Help the Kimbrel's on their Brain Cancer Journey

Hello, my name is Diana Kimbrel and this fundraiser is for my husband, Joe Kimbrel, and the rest of our family. We have three amazing kids (Trevor, Hallie, and Eli). Two years ago we found out that Joe had brain cancer and it is something we are still dealing with to this day. The first tumor, removed in October 2019, was on the speech center of his brain and it has affected his ability to talk. In May 2021 we found out that he may have another tumor and are struggling not only emotionally but financially as well. He has not been able to work and I have to be home to help take care of him and pretty much keep track of everything else going on in our lives. We have been living off of his 401k the past 1 1/2 years and we have depleted all of this money. Any kind of donation would be greatly appreciated to help pay for medical bills from Joe’s surgeries, as well as our mortgage and other household expenses so I can continue taking care of my family.

Our family is filled with hard workers and we always try to stay on the positive side of life. In 2019 we found out that Joe had a Grade 4 Glioblastoma around the speech center on the left side of his brain. He was the supervisor of the MRI department at Sky Ridge Medical Center and has been working in the X-ray/ MRI field for over 30 years. He has helped to create new procedures around Cardiac MRI here in the West, helping to save many lives and written papers on these procedures.

In October, Joe underwent an awake craniotomy that lasted about 7 to 8 hours. This surgery was unique as during those 7 to 8 hours he was awake, talking to the doctors as they were removing the tumor from his brain. This would ensure that they could preserve as much of his speech as possible. Since then he has completed radiation therapy and has been doing chemotherapy monthly, up until a few weeks ago, where an MRI showed possibly another tumor. We have a biopsy and potential surgery set up this week.

We are still trying to figure out how to keep afloat without consistent income coming in. Everyone in the family has stayed so positive about the situation and have been there for each other every step of the way. Anything anyone can donate would be greatly appreciated and will help us to take care of Joe’s medical bills, as well as other expenses that we have.
