Help the kids of Bugiri, Uganda!

My name is Anthony Artica and I reside in Orlando, FL. This story is not about me or my life.

My wife Weronika and I decided to create a fundraiser for a friend of ours, Mukisa Bernard (a.k.a. Opedo) in Bugiri, Uganda.

When Opedo was just 2 weeks old, he lost his father and has been alone with his mother ever since.

His father started a small organization to help local orphans in the area and Opedo has taken his father's footsteps with little to no resources and has been caring for these children who have come and gone for quite some time now.

Every day he has a 2-hour walk to reach the 70+ kids, then a 2-hour walk back home after he puts the kids to sleep. He makes a living at a local market making

little money.

The children are housed in a small hut in which Opedo pays out of his own pocket to house them. None of the children have access to food, clothes or education.

After getting to know him and with much thought and research, we sent our first $25 USD donation directly to him through WoldRemit and asked him to document the entire process from receiving the notification of the transfer, converting and collecting the cash out with the agent, shopping for the food, preparation of the goods, and serving these children their meal.

He was happy to report to us that with 25 $USD, he was able to feed around 80 children that day with Cornmeal, Sugar, Bread, Milk and Water.

Unfortunately, it’s not enough.

That's why we decided to ask you for help.

These children need clothes, shoes, medicine, food and clean water to drink.

After talking with Opedo about his goals and ventures, he has pledged to take care of these children and give them a chance to not only survive but thrive long-term.

Realistically, we now know it will take $50 to properly feed 80 children so as a temporary solution we would like to raise a total of $2200 to buy him a month of security to feed, shelter and clothe the children. This will allow Mukisa to save some money to raise more funds to acquire land and eventually build a small orphanage in Bugiri.

(Weronika and myself will be getting him a smartphone with a quality camera for daily posting of pictures, videos and content to expand and scale this important cause.)

We plan to help him find the right sources so he could eventually build a small orphanage which is his ultimate goal.
