Larry and Teresa Kenyon are good friends of mine who have come upon some very hard times.
Teresa had a fall and bad head injury in late June that resulted in a trip to the emergency room, a hospital stay, weeks of recovery, and high medical bills that they need to pay totally out-of-pocket.
In July, Larry began experiencing chest pains. After several doctor appointments and tests, he was scheduled to go into the hospital for further evaluation. Unfortunately, on August 18 - before his hospital date arrived - he experienced a severe physical health attack at home where he became unresponsive and was rushed by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. The medical team there found a high amount of blockage to his heart. They moved on some temporary measures to open things up. Larry has been in the hospital since the 18th and as of this writing, he is scheduled to have triple bypass surgery sometime during the week of August 24-30. Medicare and Larry's limited insurance coverage will cover some of the costs but most likely won't come close to covering it all.
In addition to all this, their two income sources - Larry's landscape business and their family-owned Jack N Jill Resale (children's clothing & toys) in Albany, OR - are providing next-to-no income for them. Larry has not been able to work his landscape business since going into the hospital, and will be physically unable to go back to work for quite some time. And like many privately-owned businesses, Jack N Jill Resale's income has dropped drastically since the pandemic hit due to several months of closure and now a limited amount of customers.
I met Larry and Teresa in August, 2017, and have loved them ever since. They are one of the hardest working "mature couples" (they are in their 60s/70s) I've met as they operate two full-time business ventures. They give to others and consistently volunteer their time to help others. Above all this, they are believers in Jesus who have committed their lives to Him. They told me they are trusting God to help them through all this. I believe God will do that in many ways, including through His people.
I've never done a gofundme. I don't even know what I'm doing :) But I do know the Kenyon's need our help. All money raised will go to help with their medical expenses and monthly bills over the next several months. I hope you will consider being a part of the answer to their prayer. If you'll simply ask God what He wants you to do and then obey Him, I think everything will be taken care of. Thank you so much!
(As of 8/25/20, the goal amount has been lowered from $20,000 to $10,000, as Larry's family has also started a gofundme page for him with a goal of $10,000. The overall $20,000 goal remains for both pages combined.)
