Help the Kemps Memorialize Bash

Donation protected
Please consider supporting Bash and the Kemp family in their fight again Brain Cancer.

In August 2021,  2 year old Bash’s parents noticed that he was walking a little funny; losing his balance.  Days later, he started to throw up. A phone call to the doctor led to a trip to the emergency department at Victoria General Hospital where a scan showed the unimaginable – a brain tumour.

Bash was airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital where he had emergency brain surgery to remove the tumour.  Then, the news no parents ever want to hear – your child has brain cancer.

Bash, now 3, has been in Vancouver at the BC Children’s hospital since then - undergoing extreme chemotherapy to fight his aggressive and rare type of brain cancer, medullomyoblastoma.  Once his six months of chemotherapy is finished in February, he is expected to go to Seattle, to get additional treatment, six weeks of radiation, to give him his best chance of survival.

Since August, Mom Liz has been staying with Bash at Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. Bash is so young and so sick that a parent must be always with him.

Dad Rob has been traveling back and forth to Vancouver, while also being in Victoria caring for their older girls, Hazel (10) and Edie (7), and running their new bike shop, Bishop’s Family Cycles (www.familycycles.ca)

While the cost of Bash’s medical care is covered, the financial realities of having a sick child are daunting – Liz has taken a leave from work, weekly trips back and forth to Vancouver for Rob or Liz, having to suddenly close the bike shop at times, the cost of food while away from home and soon, the additional challenge of treatment in Seattle.

We’ve started this GoFundMe to help the Kemps offset their travel costs – so that Rob or Liz can be in Vancouver, Victoria or Seattle – whenever or wherever their family needs – without having to worry about the costs of getting there. Please support them - so they can support each other.
