Hello, my name is Raechel Henderson. I'm the wife of Stephan Kelly and we are parents to Charlotte and Benjamin.
We are raising money to pay for a downpayment, closing and moving costs for a home to call our own.
We have spent the last two years working on paying off our debt and bringing up our credit score. Our current rent costs 2/3 of our income which hasn't allowed us to save up money to cover upfront costs for a home. Our current lease ends July 2022. So now is the time we've decided to put our all into finding a home that is affordable and will allow us to break the cycle of living paycheck to paycheck.
About Us
- Raechel: I am an author with two books out (Sew Witchy and The Scent of Lemon & Rosemary). I signed my first book contract in 2017 and have been writing full time since then. I am seeing success and people from all over have contacted me saying they love my books. This is what I was meant to do and I'm blessed to be able to do it.
- Stephan: I work as a Rehabilitaion Care Coordinator for the State of Illinois. I help people get careworkers and help so that they can live their best lives in their own homes. I love helping people. I am an active D&D player, sci-fi/fantasy geek, and fitness nut.
- Charlotte: I am a senior, set to graduate in May 2022. I am an artist and I want to study to be an astrophysicist.
- Benjamin: I am eleven years old. I love Roblox and video games and I want to be a Youtuber some day.
Raechel is currently working to get a preapproval as the first step to us getting a house. So far the various mortgage lenders she's contacted have told her that we need at least $17,000 on hand for a downpayment and closing costs. This has been the major hurdle we've hit in finding a place to call home.
All funds raised here will go first to the downpayment, then to closing costs and finally to helping with moving. We'll be posting updates as we work through all the various parts of the home search process. Maybe documenting our steps might also help others who are looking to get into their own homes as well.
