Aloha, friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers.

Our names are Saige Kanakaole Jennings and Cherise Kanakaole Jennings, and we live on Maui. Just days ago, our lives changed in an instant. I (Saige) went into premature labor and had to be medivaced to Kapiolani Medical Center on Oahu, where I gave birth to our twin boys far earlier than expected. They are now in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, fighting bravely and growing stronger each day. Doctors expect they’ll need to stay in the NICU for 1 to 2 months.

This emergency came without warning, and we were completely unprepared. We had no time to pack or plan, and now we’re facing the possibility of needing to fly back to Maui to gather essential items for our stay on Oahu and to begin setting up a safe space for our babies when they’re finally released. The Ronald McDonald House is currently full, and our medical insurance does not cover housing or living expenses while we’re here. Both Cherise and I are out of work during this time, and we do not receive paid leave.

We’re doing everything we can to stay close to our boys, but we need help to afford temporary housing, food, transportation, and basic necessities. We’re humbly asking for support, whether it’s $5, $50, or simply a prayer. Every bit helps us stay together as a family during this critical time. Our sons need us close, and your generosity allows us to be present for every heartbeat, every milestone, and every moment of healing.
