Let’s rally together and support our dear friends, the Kanagaraj family during this difficult time. Here’s what’s going on in Alyssa’s words :

Hi there! Ok, the story starts with my husband coming back from a work trip having found a bed bug on himself in his hotel room. We thought we followed protocol for him coming home but somehow a little while later I woke up with some bites on my leg. We had this happen once before years ago so I bought the product we used before called daiotomatious earth. However, I did not remember that we needed to order a special food grade kind and I purchased the garden grade kind. It was confusing bc the packaging said indoor/outdoor use. Though this product isn’t toxic in small amounts, the way I used it on furniture and the duster we got with it, there was quite a bit in the house, creating what my dr later would say was similar to a mining environment. I started to not feel well after applying it the 3rd day and by the time we had done our home and car on the 4th day I realized something wasn’t right. We didn’t have these symptoms the first time we applied this and that’s when I checked the bag and realized my mistake in getting the garden grade meant it had a higher particle rate of silica dioxide which is unhealthy to breath in. Since this happened the Friday before Christmas, we’ve connected with remediation specialists and followed their instructions, had the house cleaned a few times, disposed of all cloth furniture, cloths, bedding and toys. Our health seems to be improving out of the house, and we have good doctors helping us along the way. That said, we are still needing to move our belongings out of the house, while we get some fans and a special machine to suck the air out of the house and clean again. Overall, this has turned out to be a lot longer and harder process than we thought getting the house and our health restored and anything helps!

We are hopeful the house will be restored completely soon for our landlord to rent out, but unsure at this time if it will be a place that’s best for our family to live with the over exposures we’ve had on our lungs, specifically me and my son.

When the time comes for us to rebuild again, toys, clothes, pillows, bedding, towels, things like that would be so helpful.

In the mean time, as we make decisions for what’s best for our family, funds to help move our remaining belongings out of the house and to rent a negative air machine, as well as help finding another car to borrow/buy while we work to sell our current car would be helpful!

(we had cleaned our car with a wet vac to clean the dust we put in there on the kids seats, and then the car sat for a few weeks and molded badly. We detailed the car but the idea that there is probably mold spores in the car has made it not a good option for Moses or I to drive in.)
