Support Chelsea & Jason's Journey to Parenthood

Dear friends, family, and compassionate souls,

We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for support. Our desire to start a family has been faced with challenges due to medical conditions I have. I have been diagnosed with Hydrosalpinx, and Pelvic Adhesive Disease.

This will make the road ahead challenging, but not impossible!

Let me share a little more about my story and the difficult path ahead.

About Hydrosalpinx:
After several recent imaging tests, we found that I have Hydrosalpinx, as well as severe Pelvic Adhesive Disease.
Hydrosalpinx is a condition where fluid accumulates in one or both fallopian tubes, creating a blockage. Pelvic Adhesive Disease is a condition that occurs when adhesions (scar tissue) causes your internal tissues and organs to stick together.

Unfortunately, these conditions make it difficult for me to conceive naturally. The fluid buildup and scarring not only affects fertilization but also increases the risk of miscarriage and pregnancy complications.

These conditions are directly caused by the appendicitis I had when I was a child, where I endured a ruptured appendix for several weeks.

On February 2nd, 2024, I was admitted to undergo surgery for a salpingectomy. Unfortunately, the scar tissue and adhesive disease were so extreme, the surgeon was unable to safely remove the fallopian tube at that time.

The Treatment Journey:
To overcome these obstacles, I will need to undergo several critical steps.
If our doctor can find a surgeon skilled enough to safely remove the damaged fallopian tube, they’ll proceed with that option. Alternately, if unable to perform surgery, they will attempt to “plug” the fallopian tube (which will have the same positive outcome had they been able to remove the tube.)

After one of the above options, we’ll proceed to In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

Since my fallopian tubes may not function optimally even after surgery, IVF offers hope. With IVF, eggs are collected, fertilized outside the body, and then transferred into the uterus for development. It’s a costly but effective method for achieving pregnancy without relying on the fallopian tubes.

Cost Breakdown:
This is where your support comes in. The expenses associated with our journey to parenthood include:

Hydrosalpinx Surgery or Plugging of the tube
Surgical consultation and pre-operative tests: Approximately $1,500.
Salpingectomy or salpingostomy procedure: Estimated between $5,000 and $10,000, depending on the complexity and location of the surgery.

IVF Treatment:
Egg retrieval and fertilization: Around $10,000 to $15,000.
Embryo transfer: Additional $3,000 to $5,000.
Medications and monitoring: Approximately $3,000 to $5,000.

Post-Procedure Care and Follow-Up:
Regular check-ups, ultrasounds, and hormonal monitoring: Varies but averages $2,000 to $3,000.

How Your Contribution Will Be Used:
Every dollar you contribute will directly impact our journey toward parenthood:
Covering surgical costs, including consultations, tests, and the procedures.
Funding IVF treatment, from egg retrieval to embryo transfer.
Ensuring proper post-operative care and monitoring.
