Whether you knew him as Mr J, Coach, Officer Johnson, Cubmaster, or the Johnson kid’s Dad, he could really use your support. Last summer, my dad was diagnosed with a tumor in his bladder. We were hopeful that chemotherapy and surgery would lead to a positive outcome. However, in November, he contracted COVID-19 and required an extended hospital stay. During this time, we received devastating news: the cancer had spread rapidly to his liver and pancreas. Since Thanksgiving, my dad has endured multiple hospital stays, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, and weeks in a rehabilitation center.

After much discussion, my dad and mom made the incredibly difficult decision to transition to hospice care, focusing on his quality of life. He is now at home with my mom, receiving hospice services, and together they are navigating this challenging journey.
