Last month Onyx had an accident that changed our lives. While i was drying him during the boys bath time, my oldest son called to me to bring him a towel. Instead of telling him to come get it, i stepped away from the bed and brought it to him.  As soon as i left the bathroom  i heard a loud noise. When i came back into the bedroom i found my 9 month old son onyx laying face up on the ground screaming and shaking terribly. He was having what  we now know was a seizure brought on but what we thought was the fall from our bed. My husband rushed him to Saint Francis and we were told he had multiple brain bleeds and a blod clot in his brain. At that time we were still too worried about his safety to understand what that would soon me for us. Shortly after they moved him to PICU and his heart rate stabalized i was approached by officers and a dhs worker who questioned me thoroughly about his history of falling. I told them everything i could think that has happened his entire life in order to properly help the medical staff. Once they allowed me to return to the room we were told they suspected he didnt fall but that his subdural hematoma  was caused by abuse (specifically shaking)  that he must've been shaken that night and previous times. In complete shock and disbelief we asked if they gathered all of his medical information from his pediatrician. He is and has always been up to date on every appointment, vaccination and specialist refferal. As soon as they left i was told to leave his bedside and my husband was asked to allow them to follow him to our home to question our son. Once they arrived, they did not question him or even examine the cleanliness of our home. They took them out of our home and placed them in emergency custody with my sister.  Since then, the only good news is that Onyx SEEMS to be fully recovered.  He was released after a week at the childrens hospital and hasnt shown any signs of seizure . We are grateful to God for his health but we are now faced with maintaining it and making sure that he is treated for the injuries based on what actually happended and not what they are guessing happened.  We have been to court date after court date begging and pleading for the courts to communicate with the physicans. Our concern is not with proving our innocence because we firmly believe that once a medical professional takes the time to properly examine our son, test him for possible vaccine induced encephalitis, or vitamin deficiencies  his health will no longer be in jepordy if he ever suffers a short fall  again. The only way for the truth to come out, and for us to feel like our sons life wont be in danger in the future is for us to retain a lawyer to force the courts to look at his medical records as well as the possiblity of meningitis or encephalitis predisposing him to brain bleeds after short falls. In the meantime our children remain in the care of my sister but we no longer have custody of them. They have refused my husband a lawyer and filed child support on us for all three children making it impossible for us to come up with money. Our next court date is at the end of january, meaning our kids will not go home with us until months after that even with representation. We will spend Onyxs' first christmas, new years and Onyxs first birthday without them.This has been a very painful dark, lonely and confusing experience for us, especially during the holidays.
