Help the Ji Family

On July 8th 2021, our beloved Byung Hoon (Richard) Ji suffered a life-threatening Ischemic Stroke, while at home with his loving family. Byung Hoon was found unconscious by his wife (Mi Sook) and his two daughters (Alice and Ashley). Byung Hoon was transported to Englewood Medical Center where he was admitted to the Emergency Room.

Due to the severity of the stroke, Byung Hoon was rushed into surgery, where doctors performed a Mechanical Thrombectomy surgery to remove a blood clot that had formed inside his brain. As a result of severe brain swelling caused from the first surgery, doctors performed a second surgery on July 10th, called a craniotomy. While in surgery, a portion of Byung Hoon’s skull was removed to relieve pressure caused from the swelling inside his brain. Unfortunately, due to complications from the craniotomy surgery, Byung Hoon was rushed into emergency surgery later that day on July 10th, where doctors were forced to remove a portion of Byung Hoon’s brain in order to further relieve pressure caused from the stroke.

Unfortunately, another setback occurred on July 13th, when Byung Hoon suffered a seizure caused by the prolonged trauma and extensive surgeries that he had endured. Byung Hoon is currently admitted to Englewood Medical Center’s ICU (Intensive-Care-Unit), where he is still fighting for his life today.

While the Ji Family has an outpouring of emotionally support from their family and friends, they are in need of help from anyone that is able. Due to a lapse in medical insurance, the Ji Family must pay for these medical expenses out of pocket. To this date, medical expenses from the surgeries, medications, and days spent in the Intensive Care Unit, have surpassed $850,000. The Ji Family would be incredibly grateful for any support that would be put towards paying off medical expenses, future rehabilitation and living expenses.
