Help the Jasso Family Through This Tough Time
Donation protected
My name is Janet Peterson. I am raising money for my friend Martin Jasso and his wife Vicky and children Jocelyn, Alex and Arianna. I met the Jasso family in 2013 when our girls Jocelyn and Charlotte met and bonded over our outdoor cat Smokey. Shortly after I met Vicky and I learned that they lived down the block on our street in Lincon Square. Soon we became close friends and Vicky started watching my children after school so I could work, and she blessed my apartment with her amazing housekeeping skills. She was a good friend and support person as I was going through lots of personal changes, newly divorced, breast cancer treatment, recent move to an apartment. Martin hung my pictures on the wall for me and even shoveled my car out on a snowy, cold Chicago night. Jumping ahead 11 years later to today I got a call from Vicky. Last night I had commented on the beautiful picture she had posted of her and Martin on her Facebook page. I assumed it might have been their anniversary, but she filled me in on what has been happening over the past few months as she had kept her news private. Martin was diagnosed with liver cancer and had received chemotherapy and radiation. He also has PSP, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, which is a genetic disease. Three weeks ago, he had a liver transplant which is the only treatment for PSP. Vickie told me the liver is responding well to his body, thank God. He has recently developed blood clots in his lungs which is from the chemotherapy he had received. He is very weak, and Martin has not been able to work the past several weeks at his factory job and does not receive any disability from his employer. Vickie is working very hard at her cleaning service business, but she is very worried because she needs to spend as much time as she can with Martin who is currently receiving care at the University of Chicago. I am raising money to help this amazing, kind, helpful family in their time of need. Please considering donating for this family whatever you can, nothing is too small. The money will go to the Jasso family to pay bills, everyday living and medical costs. Thank you for your support it means everything.
