Help The Internet's Favorite Screamy Cat With His Passing
Donation protected
In September 2023, Simon was diagnosed with stage two kidney disease. He was given at least a few extra years. Now, it looks like that time might be now. A few weeks ago, he started to decline when he couldn't jump up on the bed, his one and only place he ever really is. When the Solensia shot wasn't working like it usually does, and he stopped asking for help to get on the bed and stopped asking for my attention on Sunday morning, I knew something was wrong. He started to lose the use of his back legs. Now with some meds, he is able to move around again, but he does not move like he used to. He struggles and takes forever to get up and down. He no longer screams for my attention and tries to climb on me. If you've known him all these years from the Internet, you know that he is VERY vocal.
With the opinion of multiple vets, including our regular vet, his quality of life is no longer looking to be there. A life walking and struggling back and forth and to get up and down on the floor is no life for him. He keeps losing significant weight consistently no matter what we do. Unfortunately, the time has come for Friday, February 28th. We made an appointment for a house call. I will not put him through what I did for a previous cat and let it go on for way too long.
Unfortunately, the cost is high, just a little over $650. As a self employed disabled person who barely makes enough to cover her rent and car payment, this is costly. I am working on some contracted work to stack up the funds. But if anyone who has been around for him since day one would like to help him pass peacefully and help us with keepsakes, that would be so appreciative. The fundraiser covers any fees, and shipping costs as I want to ship the additional clay print to family who raised him with me for two years and has not seen him since I moved to Omaha. And if you know of my home life, you know this is big of me to do lol but they loved him so I will do this for them.
A photographer friend of mine also has an offer: if you're local to Omaha/Lincoln or will travel, if you donate $100, you will get a free photoshoot.
Thank you so much.
Love from me and Simon.
