From what was thought to be a "pinched nerve" for months, to getting an MRI. Then being told the something no one wants to hear, "you have cancer". Especially cancer that has put a potential timeline on what to expect in the very near future.
The doctors have said,
"Stage 4 Lung Cancer that is inoperable and she has an estimated 15 months".
Sherry has not been given a good prognosis. We know our parents are going to need help with those monthly bills, like electricity, mortgage, medical bills, gas back and forth to treatment and trials or second opinions that could extend her chances of being with us for as long as possible. To see her grandchild grow, her children succeed and continue to share love with us and her husband, our dad.
Our mother just started her first round of treatment, and while looking absolutely terrified, smiled and gave us a thumbs up; because she's always showing strength.
We've never done something like this, my brother and I are very independent. But - in a time like this, we need help, love and support from our friends and family.
Our parents have always worked hard but from as far back as I can remember, our mom has always had a full time job and was a 50/50 partner with our dad.
Without mom working, and fighting to beat the odds, our parents are going to struggle financially.
Worrying about money in a time that should be spent resting and filled with positivity should not be on our parents minds. Writing this and even the thought of them needing support breaks our hearts.
This came unexpectedly, as most of these stories go. We are doing everything we can to ease the burden, be the best children possible, and show our parents that we can come together and do SOMETHING.
Something. Something is better than nothing.
For a woman who has spent her entire life working hard, passing on wisdom, showing strength when most are weak, and having the biggest heart around, we need your help now.
Share this with your network of friends, share with prayers and well wishes, share in this cause by helping support our parents during this dark time. You can help us do SOMETHING.
Thank you and with all of our LOVE,
Brittney, Jake, Dani, and Em
