For those who may not know, our dear friend Danielle Hurlburt is facing stage 3 brain cancer. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone three major brain surgeries and suffered two strokes. As a result, Danielle has lost her short-term memory and is no longer able to drive or work.
Danielle Anderson grew up in the Richmond Virginia area. She was a cheerleader at Goochland High School and attended J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and Virginia Commonwealth University.
One night she met a comedian named Dan. They fell in love and she moved to Los Angeles. A few years later they were married with two beautiful boys, Max and Alex. She spent five years as an aide at Topanga Elementary before finishing her bachelor’s degree from CSUN. She then dedicated a decade to teaching at Wilbur Elementary, where she made a lasting impact on countless students and families.
In September 2025, Danielle experienced her first stroke, which temporarily paralyzed her left side and permanently affected her memory. She continued using sick leave until March, when she ultimately lost her job—and with it, her family’s health insurance.
Today, Danielle requires daily supervision for her safety. Simple routines have become difficult, and her husband and two sons are doing everything they can to care for her while adjusting to life on a single income and covering medical expenses.
Sunrise Baseball, the little league community where Danielle’s sons have played since 2011, is organizing this fundraiser to support the Hurlburt family during this incredibly challenging time. Many of us know Danielle as a kind, dedicated, and generous person who has given so much to others over the years.
If you’re able to contribute, any support will help ease the financial burden and allow the family to focus on Danielle’s care. If not, sharing this message or keeping the family in your thoughts is equally appreciated.
Danielle still treasures her long-term memories and always enjoys seeing familiar faces. Your kindness, in any form, truly means a great deal.
