After speaking with Michelle today she has sadly determined she cannot save Hummingbird afterall. However we can still come together to help her with her retirement of both the post pandemic debt and with her future .

"The Hummingbird will be closing for good on the 19th of Jan. Please come in and enjoy the ride till the end. We will be having our 2nd annual Hummingbird Mardi Gras Celebration on the 27th of January! Don’t miss that one, it’s gonna be amazing!!! Thank you so much for all your love and support for 15 years!"

Owned and operated by Michelle Elmore, with her dedicated team led by Jose at the stove, The Hummingbird has been feeding Fairfax New Orleans–style comfort food since 2010. From gumbo, spicy fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, beignets, and po’boys, to the music, warmth, and hospitality—this place is pure heart. Come by until January 19th and indulge in some Gumbo etc.

Like so many small businesses, The Hummingbird was deeply impacted with financial debt left behind by the COVID crisis. Michelle and her team have worked tirelessly to recover, but alas it cannot continue.

We are asking for help in any amount to help her out. Our goal is actually more than $50,000, so your donation is a tangible way to show love and gratitude for her and her small, locally owned business that has and continues to give so much to this town..
