August 4, 2021 was the day my whole world went black!!! The air looked black, the sun looked black, the sky looked BLACK!!
The River Fire took our home and it was a total loss. It was determined that the River Fire started in the camping area of the Bear River campground, a human-caused fire. My heart is broken and, quite frankly, am still in shock.
My family and I had spent years dreaming, planning, and saving to buy our dream home. We finally found the perfect house three years ago in 2018 and transformed it into our home. We had dreamed of eventually opening a Mustang ranch sanctuary. All of our hopes and dreams were gone in a matter of minutes. The campgrounds being a mere mile and a half from the house, didn’t take long for the fire to completely engulf the mountainside and reach the house. We were fortunate to have evacuated in time, and although all of our possessions burned, we are grateful to have each other. Through this tragic life experience we have learned that: Home is where your family is and no walls are needed to define it.
With nothing left except a torched lot, we have to start from scratch. We are very fortunate to have a “fifth wheel” (camper) to live in at our property instead of living in a shelter. However, we will need to find a new source of water since our well was contaminated and destroyed in the fire. We would appreciate any help and/or prayers to get back on our feet and one day rebuild our home. With your help, we WILL make it happen!
Thank You Eric, Conrad, family and friends for always standing in my corner….I Love You! Truly, I do!
