Hello, my name is Ronnie.
I am fundraising for the Indigenous tribe called "Wirarika" or "The People. They are a tribe of indigenous people living in Central and Northern Mexico. The Wirarika lineage spans back hundreds of years, depending on where you look, some would say maybe thousands. They are a tribe of healers, artists and magicians. Their lineage is rich with history, magical stories and healing ceremonies. The Wirarika are some of the very few who still hold onto and practice the art of story telling in order to pass their history on to the next generation.
And they need our help.
With global expansion and industrialization, The Wirarika, just like many, are dramatically effected. They have had their sacred land, which they have roamed and made pilgrimage to since their arrival, was taken away from them by their own government. Were they doing something wrong? Were they going against the government and starting an uprising? Why would the government take away their land? So they can mine silver. SILVER! They took this tribes land so that they could dig it all up, to make a few dollars. This mining is endangering the Wirarika way of life as well as plants and animals alike. Its desecrating a sacred place. A place the Wirarika travel to every year in order to pray and connect with their ancestors. They currently have to ask permission to do this!
So, I am fundraising on their behalf. Because as sad as this is to me, and maybe you, the only way for the Wirarika to keep a PIECE of their sacred land, is to buy it back from the government who took it away from them in the first place. I am pledging to give ALL funds raised to The Wirarika community. Their lineage and healing ceremonies have been some of the most impactful experiences of my entire life as well as many others that I know. I can think of few things more devastating then a tribe of healers never having access to their land and healing herbs (which grow specifically in this region) again. Especially in times like now, when love and healing are needed more than ever. Please help me help this tribe. Please help The Wirarika community be able to create some ownership of the land that their ancestors walked, so that they can witness generations to come do the same. Anything helps, even if you just share it with others.
I truly believe that any donation to this cause will send ripples that will be felt for hundreds and hundreds of years.
Thank you for taking the time to read. Please donate if and only if you can. And if not, please share with a friend or on social media. It would mean the world to me and to "The People".
