Help the Houlihan's be healthy and heal

Hey, everyone my name is Kathleen Catalano and I am fundraising for my two incredible parents, Bob and Carolyn Houlihan. On December 30th, 2021, our family received the devastating news that my dad had been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukemia called AML (acute myeloid leukemia) as a result of this blood cancer 70% of his bone marrow is no longer healthy. By the time it is diagnosed typically you don't have much time to treat it. My mother took a catastrophic fall in September of 2020, after multiple surgeries she is still bedbound to this day. We are hopeful she will regain some mobility eventually, but her journey ahead is a long and difficult one. My dad was her primary caregiver and now he needs someone to care for him. My dad has begun his first round of chemotherapy treatments and will need blood transfusions several times a week. This pattern of chemotherapy and blood transfusions will be going on for the foreseeable future. He is weakened, tired and sad, but he will never quit or stop fighting. He is pushing through for us, for his family because the love he has for my mom and all of us has no bounds. My mother lies in a hospital bed in the living room and my dad lies in his bedroom, so they talk on the phone to stay connected every single call ending with I love you. My parents are humble people and would rarely ask for help, but they would be the first ones there for you if you need something. Well now they need your help. My mother will need more aides with my dad unable to care for her. She has other health issues as well that require medication and nursing care. Between chemotherapy medications, hiring aides for my dad and trips to Sloan Kettering in the NYC costs are piling up. Please consider donating to support them. Any amount is appreciated.
