Help the Hossain-Miu Family Rebuild After Ida

My sister Kim and her family lost everything when Hurricane Ida flooded their home in Millburn, NJ.

In the middle of the night Kim, her husband Saeed, and their two kids (ages five and three) had to be rescued from her home by the fire department as the water in their house rose rapidly, only to return the next day to complete devastation. Their house is uninhabitable--sewage and flood waters filled up the entire home. Their home and everything in it has been destroyed by Ida. Thankfully they were all safe, but it will be a long road ahead to rebuild, and they will not be able to return to their home for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately, federal funding/disaster relief has not been granted to Essex County where her home is located and it appears unlikely that homeowner’s insurance will cover anything (my current understanding).

Kim and Saeed are not ones to ask for anything, but the flood has devastated their lives. At this point, it is unclear what it will cost to rebuild their home and their lives, but it will be significant so any donations would be greatly appreciated. The donations will go towards:

• Temporary housing and furnishings for the family so that their kids can hopefully have a little sense of normalcy, especially as school has started again for their young kids
• Clothing, school supplies, toys and books for the kids, and other everyday necessities
• Importantly, rebuilding their home to make it habitable again

This past year has been hard on everyone and we know that Hurricane Ida has affected many families. Any help means so much to the Hossain-Miu family, including the outpouring of community support over the past few days to help clear out what remained of their home.
