Help the Horwaths win this battle

Hi Everyone. My name is Vernae Horwath and I am writing to tell you our family's story. In May of 2022 my husband Brad was diagnosed with long covid and alcohol induced liver

disease . The disease attacked his immune system and his organs. He currently is in outpatient rehab mandated by the transplant process at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. He is now in liver failure awaiting transplant at the Mayo Clinic with a timetable of less than 3 years to live without a liver. We are now FL residents living here since August 2022. Brad is 49 years old, has been self employed for over 25 years, and is fit and now has to be health conscious. We started rucking in Nov 2022 and have been extremely active.

We were not thinking about reaching out in this capacity for support. As part of his diagnosis, his health has been deteriorating rapidly of late and our way of life is constantly changing. It has been a challenge both physically, mentally and financially. Moving forward, Brad's pain has gotten unbearable . They cannot treat his pain as anything that would help gets metabolized through his liver and would disqualify him as a transplant recipient.

This is the reason for reaching out. We are looking for you guys to find it in your heart to contribute. Medical bills and regular life expenses are piling up beyond belief. Anything you can do to help our family of four through these difficult times of health and finance issues would change our lives and we will be forever grateful . Most of you are extended family, our close friends, colleagues, and ex classmates. If you are not able to contribute, we would be gratefu for any positive thoughts and prayers you have.
