Help the Holt Family Relocate and Recover
Donation protected
The hurricane force winds that fueled the fires on December 30 sent embers flying into the yard of the Holt's beautiful home in Boulder. The Holt family, friends and neighbors used shovels, dirt and hoses to put out the fire, which burned the adjacent field, as well as their home’s fence. But they prevented it from burning down their home and the neighboring properties too. They never evacuated so they could keep watch, in case more embers flew in from the massive fire, burning just a mile away.
Five days after this tragedy, their landlord of seven years told them they will not be extending their lease at the end of February, because a family member who lost their home will be moving in. The Holts are now left to find a rental property in our community along with the almost 1000 other families in the same situation. Clearly, the fallout from this fire affects not only the families whose homes were burned, but trickles down into the rest of the community.
To top it off, Wis was laid off from her job the week before Christmas and has been frantically looking for work. Her job provided the benefits for the family, so the pressure to find a new position is overwhelming to say the least!
Wis and Mike are too proud to ask for help themselves so we have decided to step up and do it for them.
Any donations made will go toward a rental deposit, rent, health insurance, food and other basic living expenses. We are hoping to ease some of the financial burden so Mike and Wis can focus on their emotional health, and that of their two high-school aged boys as well.
