The photos below show the extent of the flood damage to my sister Amanda and her husband Austin’s home in Sumas, Washington.

Over the past few days, flooding from the Nooksack River has devastated the area, leaving many homes underwater. In their case, floodwaters rose rapidly and pushed through the entire home. Mud and water filled every room, damaging floors, walls, appliances, and belongings, and leaving the home currently unlivable.

Thankfully, they were able to move many essential items out before the water reached its peak, something we are incredibly grateful for. Even so, the damage is significant and the recovery process will take time.

While they do have insurance, flood-related claims and repairs often take months, and immediate costs add up quickly. This fundraiser is meant to help cover cleanup, temporary living expenses, and replacement of damaged household items while they work toward making their home safe again.
