Support the Hoisington Family

I am starting this GoFundMe for my incredible friend and colleague Michele Hoisington (and her family). Michele is truly one of the strongest and most selfless people I know. Over the past two years, Michele has faced challenges that most of us can’t even imagine, dedicating herself to her husband Chris’s care as he underwent a double lung transplant in March 2023. In October of this year (2024), her husband Chris was admitted to the hospital after weeks of not feeling well. After many long days and nights and a series of tests, the doctors informed the family that Chris was in chronic rejection and would need another transplant. Tragically, as the weeks have passed, his health has continued to decline, and he was not found eligible for another transplant. Michele and her family have had to face the unimaginable—deciding how to move forward with this heartbreaking news. Chris passed away peacefully surrounded by family today, December 8th 2024.

Despite everything, Michele continues to be an incredible teacher, a devoted mother, daughter, and the kind of friend who gives her all to others, even when her own world is falling apart. She has already done so much all while navigating this unthinkable journey. Michele would never ask for help herself, which is why I’m asking for her. My hope is to take even one burden off her plate during this time of unimaginable grief and difficulty. The financial strain of any ongoing medical bills, day-to-day expenses, and preparing for what comes next is overwhelming. Michele has always been there for those around her, and we want to show her the same love and care back.
