Friends of the Hinson family are asking you to give a donation to help cover hotel costs, food, bills, and more as Erin and Nathan are faced with unpaid time away from work while Henry is receiving emergency care as he recovers from Sepsis in Indianapolis. See a compilation of Erin's social media posts below.
"The life of a special needs parent is a strange combination of instinct, endurance, and holding your breath while doing the next right thing. This morning, Henry was brought by ambulance to Norton Children's and is now in septic shock. We think we may know the cause, but the team has taken him to the OR to place a central line and clear out the infected fluid filling his abdomen. He's alert, but he's really sick. We expect him to come out of surgery on a ventilator so his body can rest."
"Hospital companion beds are a strange kind of heartbreak... I fall asleep to the sound of the ventilator pushing air into his lungs. I hear every alarm before it fully beeps. I hear nurses whispering about fevers that won't break and numbers they're watching closely. You don't sleep in stretches here. You sleep in slivers. A few minutes; maybe an hour. Just long enough to dream about peace..."
"Over the last five days, Henry has seen more specialists than I can count, including neurosurgery, infectious disease, urology, and the surgical team. Each has played a role in piecing together this complicated medical puzzle and we are grateful for their expertise."
Erin said it best when she said, "Recovering from sepsis is a marathon, not a sprint." We hope you will find it in your hearts this holiday season to help ease the burden on this loving family whose focus is on Henry's recovery.
