Hi everyone,

Our friends, Michael and Victoria, suffered a destructive house fire this week in Antioch, CA. Their home is now unlivable and in need of major repair. They lost nearly everything and now have to find a place to live the week before Christmas. 

Luckily everyone is safe - living with them are 3 of their kids, 3 cats, and 2 dogs. A sneaky fire broke out in their attic and burnt the kids’ bedrooms, destroying everything they owned. All clothes. All belongings. Everything. They lost all electronics in the home due to water damage while firefighters extinguished the flames. Whatever items aren’t damaged by water are destroyed by smoke.

The good news is they do have insurance and they will eventually get a payout. Eventually. What we are trying to do is help get them back on their feet ASAP by helping get them into a pet friendly Airbnb, offset immediate costs including animal’s vet bills, food for the family, and getting clothes / supplies right away. 

I’ve known Michael for 14 years. He’s currently a Senior Consultant for Best Buy. We met playing World of Warcraft during the Burning Crusade while farming rep for Aldor. We created my guild Neverender together and have remained friends ever since. “Tiki”, as he goes by in-game, is the heart of our guild! He also met his wife Victoria while playing Warcraft. Vicky is a labor and delivery nurse for Kaiser and has put herself in harm’s way during this pandemic for other people. Their kids are 22, 18 & 17.  Zach is studying to become a vet assistant, and both Saray and Bree will graduate from high school this year.

I’m so thankful they were awake when this all happened. Michael’s son smelled smoke and although they didn’t see any fire at first, they looked up and noticed their ceiling fixtures melting off. Scary.
