Dear friends of the Hilgers,
On Christmas Day the unthinkable happened. Erik Hilger was urgently admitted to the ICU with severe sepsis. He is currently on a ventilator and has been fighting for his life. Blood cultures revealed Strep A in his bloodstream. His kidney function had declined, but since Christmas Day they have steadily improved. He is on multiple IV drips to keep him stable and provide nourishment. He is currently getting to the point where his drips and ventilator settings have been able to be weaned. Over the last few days he has made these incredible improvements. Erik’s doctors are so pleased with his progress. They have said he is young, strong and know that he is capable of fighting this off. We are all hopeful that these victories continue.
Many of you know that Erik is a wonderful husband to Brittany and an amazing father of two beautiful young children, Brees (2) and Harper (1). Brittany, Brees and Harper are taking this day by day. They are surrounded by the love and support of friends and family.
With so many uncertainties in the future, what we know is that Erik has a long road to recovery. We all love the Hilgers and feel helpless on what to do. This fundraiser is one way we can show support- to offset the cost of medical expenses for Erik and his family. They are going to need help with alleviating the stress from medical bills, other financial burdens and to just focus on healing.
Please share with your friends and family to help spread the word. Most importantly, please continue to lift up Erik and his sweet family in prayer.

On behalf of Brittany and Erik, their closest friends and the entire family- the outpouring of love, prayers and support shown over the past few days is so very appreciated.
2022 will be the year of healing for the Hilgers.
