Help the Higgs Family Get Back on their Feet

My friend Ms. Higgs and her partner Bradley work very hard. She is a cleaning lady at the hospital, and he works the night shift at a factory across the river in Weirton. They have four young children. They recently had a disaster when their only car broke down, meaning Bradley has difficulty getting to work. He's already gone through all his sick days and will be fired if he misses more work. He's currently getting rides with whoever will take him to Weirton in the afternoon and either taking a cab or walking home at night. This is eating up their paycheck. The car will need an entire new engine, which will cost at least $1500, and since it's a sedan it's too small for their family anyway, so we are looking to buy them a used mini van.

In addition to this, they are about to have some appliances they rented from the local furniture rental shop repossessed. It's been very hard for them to keep up payments on a washer and dryer and the television their children watch, but they need the washer and dryer with the car being broken down because they are off the bus route and too far to walk to a laundromat.

This fundraiser is to repair the Higgs's car or preferably buy them a used van as soon as possible so they won't have such a struggle to work. If we get more than we need for a working vehicle, it will be used to buy a cheap washer and dryer so they won't have to rent anymore.
