Help The Herrera Family After Husbands Passing

Donation protected

The Herrera family have been together since 2011, they fell in love with each other instantly and have been inseparable since. They are both from and currently living in San Antonio, Texas. The family has been dealing with Thomas’ cancer since July 2018. Mr. Herrera served proudly in the U.S Army since 2016. He was a Cavalry Scout, which they are the eyes and ears on the field. Unknowingly they were exposed to dangerous chemicals, and fumes. A couple of weeks after his deployment ended, he got really sick and was sent to the hospital finding out he has Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, also known as large B cell lymphoma. He was stationed out in a foreign country where doctors said to believe that his cancer was from him being exposed to chemical agents contributing to the genetic mutation of his cells causing the cancer to grow quickly. He has had multiple surgeries and procedures throughout these past three years. He has had multiple colostomies, feeding tubes, chemotherapy, radiation, many tumor removals, a bone marrow transplant and more. On June 23, 2021 Mrs. Herrera was informed by doctors that her husband would only have days to live or maybe a week. Doctors let her know that there is nothing else to do for him as the tumor is so huge that it is wrapping around his intestine. Mr. and Mrs. Herrera have a healthy beautiful toddler. Mrs. Herrera is currently in Nursing school finishing up the RN program with only a year left. She is unemployed due to being a full-time Nursing student and full-time caretaker for their baby and Mr. Herrera. Mrs. Herrera let me know that she will have to quit Nursing school and start working somewhere to help support her and her daughter as the military pay they’ve been getting will not be enough for now daycare, food, rent, internet, car payment, gas, baby clothes as she is growing and other necessities. Also, Mr. Herrera’s disability pay will not keep going towards the family since he is going to pass away, once he passes away it stops. I know Mr. Herrera would not want this for her as she deserves to finish up RN school as she has worked so hard already and sacrificed so much. As her friend and her support system I want to help raise money for her and her daughter as she finishes up RN school and then will be able to support herself and her daughter after finishing up the program which I know for a fact she can and will if we are able to help the family now. I am asking for any amount of donations to help raise as much money possible for her and her daughter to make it through this next coming year. No donation is too small or too big. This family has been through so much and every penny is going to Mrs. Herrera and her baby. Mr. Herrera is currently in hospice care at home as of June 24, 2021. Mrs. Herrera is going to inform Mr. Herrera before he passes away within these next couple of days that we will help raise as much money so he can pass away at peace knowing his family will be okay without him and she will finish the RN program. To be honest, Mr. Herrera has been so strong through this all but, his only worry before passing away is that his family will financially struggle after his passing, them trying to grieve his death at the same time and his wife having to quit Nursing school. I want to make sure this doesn't happen.

This GoFundMe is dedicated to our hard working best friend who is the mother of our friend group. She keeps us all sane. We love you Thomas, Adreann, and baby Ellie.
