On November 3rd Emily and Alex received news from their doctors that Emily was in preterm labor and would not be going home until Ollie is born. Ollie is their miracle IVF baby after 6 years of fertility treatments. With Emily being only 24 weeks the plan is to allow her body to rest while she is closely monitored and trying to keep Ollie “in” as long as possible so her organs and little body can fully develop.
Because of this unexpected event Emily will be taking time off of work and Alex will be staying by her side.
On other devastating news Alex was rushed to the hospital on November 2nd one day before his wife Emily was sent to a different hospital 1 hour away from each other due to kidney failure because of his Alport syndrome disease.
Alex has been battling kidney disease for 30 years. On November 3rd Alex’s doctors decided he need to be put on Dialysis right away due to Alex having Stage 5 kidney failure, also known as end-stage renal disease (ESRD), is the most advanced and severe stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD). At this stage, the kidneys have lost nearly all of their ability to function, resulting in a critical decline in their ability to filter waste and excess fluids from the blood. So, Alex was in such critical condition that he had a catheter put into his neck to start hemodialysis immediately.
With Stage 5 kidney failure, he now requires kidney replacement therapy to survive.
Our Family wanted to start a gofundme to help with any of their upcoming monthly bills, medical bills and Ollie’s NICU stay. Please keep Emily, Alex and baby Ollie in your prayers. They have a long road ahead of them but we know that God will be guiding and protecting them every step of the way. Thank you all so much your help.
