Help the Hensley Family Care for Sara: Huntington's Disease
Donation protected
In 2016, my wife, Sara Hensley, was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease at just 44 years old. Huntington's is a rare, genetic neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain. There is no cure. It is often described as having ALS, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's all at once.
Since her diagnosis, Sara's symptoms have continued to worsen. She struggles with walking, speaking, swallowing, problem-solving and involuntary movements. In 2023, she was forced to stop working, and today, she requires 24-hour assistance with all daily tasks. Our children, Eden and Avery , and I have been providing care ourselves, but we have reached a point where she needs more specialized, intensive support to ensure her comfort and well-being.
The cost of round-the-clock care for Huntington's can range between $50,000 and $90,000 per year as the disease progresses. Specialized medical equipment, accessibility modifications, daily living aids, physical therapy, and transportation accommodations are all necessary for her care.
We want to keep Sara at home, surrounded by love, for as long as possible, but we can not do it alone. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help us give her the care she deserves. If you're unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign with others would mean so much to our family.
Thanks you so much from the bottom of hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support.
Much love,
-Tim, Eden, Avery and Sara Hensley
