To sum it up... I AM DROWNING A BIT.
As some of you may know, I was paralyzed in July of 2016. Several weeks of doctors ignoring my plea for help & giving me norcos, turned into me spending several weeks sleeping on my back in Neurology ICU at University of Chicago receiving plasmapheresis.
Right out of U of C I was in therapy. It took me 9 months, but I did re-learn how to use my hands and feet. I'm not saying I do it well, but I did learn. At this point, they're still numb, but I am trying to use them a bit to do some hobbies. Typing is not one of them... #needmoreroom #bachelorsingraphicarts #numbhands
In these years of love & loss I have met my favorite human, Brian. I enjoy doing life with him, but we have been dealing with some not so pleasant living conditions due to a negligent landlord. I am here daily fighting insurance, or a doctor for a referral, and lately I have been having to fight my landlord/his "management company" and the association to get running water in my shower. In this non-ADA compliant condo complex, they just point fingers.
I am EXHAUSTED !!! :[
Being chronically ill is a full time job. Yes. I live with this daily. The fun part... the government does NOT make anything any easier for us to do. I'm half convinced it's harder.. They took my Medicaid from me mid-pandemic (longer story) and it's causing me to have all sorts of medical bills, and not be able to see my important doctors, like my pain specialist who gives me shots for my bulging disc so I am not dying every 3 weeks with my IVIG infusion. WHICH costs $6,000 and they just let me know they denied ... #nextweekonamyjayslife #sorryifthatsgibberish /endrant
What I am (having a hard time) asking you all for.. is some help get us out of here. Into a home, maybe. My dream is to never rent again. But.. whatever you can spare will help make a difference. See, Brian has to move us.. I can't help because I can't really lift or move things. If you saw this condo right now, you'd cry for Brian... :| 2 grown adults crammed into a 1br/1bath 800sqr ft condo. ;]
I have saved for movers... but medical bills happened. It's hard to save, let alone save on disability.( We got a $10 SS raise... Medicare Part B took $8 of it) I just want a place where I can have as many "therapy cats" as I please! My plants won't be on the wrong side of the building for the sun! I will have a room to do resin in safely, and Brian a garage to do his hobbies? Could you help us get into a place of our very own? Maybe pay a bill or two. I appreciate you more than you know!
