In January, 2020, Theresa Heenan, my college friend of over 30 years, collapsed and was taken to the Emergency Room with sky-high blood pressure and no history of hypertension. At first, doctors discovered little except renal artery blockage. As the months have unfolded, Theresa’s tests have uncovered thyroid cancer, a mass on her kidney, and a brain tumor.
Theresa and Jack, her husband of 25 years, have a recent college graduate and another child who just returned to college for his sophomore year. Theresa had to leave her job and is hoping for approval for short-term disability. There are many “unknowns” so the medical tests continue, and the medical bills continue to climb. Each trip is about an hour away. Upcoming are consultations with a kidney surgeon and neurosurgeon, and her thyroid surgery is Oct. 1.
Theresa is the ultimate giver and not one to ask for help, so I am asking on behalf of her and her family. If you've been affected by the Heenans' generosity, now is a chance for payback!
