Our family has recently suffered a difficult hardship. My dad, who is one of the most generous, kindest, and hard-working men in the world, had to have his leg amputated below the knee in an emergency surgery.
Over the last 3 years my dad has spent much of it checking in and out of the hospital (15 visits) for an infection caused by a diabetic ulcer on his foot that would not heal. He has seen multiple specialists and doctors, and was put through every treatment and give every medication they thought would help. The infection and ensuing treatments caused numerous side effects and additional problems. Two weeks ago, the doctors made the decision to amputate his leg below the knee to save him from the infection that turned gangrenous and had entered his blood stream.
The stress this has put on my parents is why I am asking for help. My dad, who would jump to help anyone in need, would never ask for help for himself. But he needs it.
The financial hardship the last few years has put on my parents is devastating-but it keeps getting worse. Insurance does not cover much of what is necessary for my dad to get healthy. The expenses of critical equipment, like a wheelchair ramp, prosthetic, or in home assistance is not fully covered. In addition, my parents' home is not wheelchair accessible, so renovating is another necessity, as well as a vehicle that can accommodate a wheelchair or scooter.
Unfortunately, my parents live on a very fixed income, and even with living as frugally as possible, the bills are pilling up. If you are able to help support my parents with any donation, so that we can relieve the financial pressure and my dad can focus on getting healthy, we truly appreciate it. Thank you for your generosity and kindness, and for praying for my dad to overcome this obstacle. My entire family is very grateful.
