Help the Hauck family save their puppy Igor

The Hauck family desperately needs our help!

A few months ago; Briana, James, and 6 year old Cosmo had to say goodbye to their beloved dog “Edith”. The loss of Edith was heart breaking (especially for 6 year old Cosmo). Edith’s care in her final days, was also financially taxing.

Recently, The Hauk decided to open their hearts up to a new family member. After ample research, they were excited to welcome home their new 4 month old Doberman puppy named “Igor”! Igor proved to be the perfect match and became instant best friends with 6 year old Cosmo.

The Hauck family was “made whole” again with Igor as their new addition.

Sadly, the happiness was very short lived.

Igor, is currently the ICU with life threatening pneumonia that came on rapidly out of nowhere. Since this past Wednesday he remains as the ER's most critical patient. Veterinarians suspect a viral infection, as there is no other viable explanation as to why 4 month old Igor got as sick as he did so rapidly. This is a fully immunized pup who received all pertinent veterinary care and was a 100% normal & healthy prior to leaving his breeder. One minute he was doing great with his new family, the next minute on the brink of death.

The Haucks did everything “right” in terms of bringing Igor home; They selected a diligent, caring, and reputable breeder. Even though Igor was fully immunized and healthy, they took care not to expose him to strange places and other animals to give his immune system a chance to develop further. In this case there is no way to point a finger at owner, breeder, vet….. This just very sad luck.

Igor's vet bill has now reached $8,700, with each additional day costing $1,900. Paid up until tomorrow morning but, now the well is dry. Briana and her family have spent every last penny and have taken out the maximum loans they could be approved for. Igor is getting the best care in the ICU and we cannot let them give up and lose their puppy just because of money. WE JUST CAN'T. The promising news is that every day he's in the ICU, little Igor is slowly getting better. Initially he was barely conscious, wasn't eating or drinking, vitals were very unstable, he could barely breathe and had to be on 30 liters of hi-flow oxygen set at 100%. As of today, Igor has taken some food and water and has been dropped down to 25 liters of oxygen at 60%. The vets and staff have all fallen head over heels for him; he’s such a sweet and special boy. Igor just needs more time in the ICU to get better, that's all.

Igor was healthy when he left his breeder, yet, she has sent a full refund and more to help pay for his care. I personally paid for 24 hours in the ICU as well. At this point, asking for the help of friends and strangers is literally a last resort.

Too many times we hear horror stories of irresponsible breeders or owners. This is our chance to help an educated puppy buyer! Let's show this beautiful family what happens when you do in fact support reputable breeders and responsibly bred dogs.

Times are hard on everyone right now. A very little bit can help, even if you just share this post to help spread the word. Every penny we collect will be put toward Igor's care and if any is left over, that will be donated to Doberman rescue.

I have been on this journey with my friend Briana Hauck since the day she decided on a Doberman and I was marveled at her thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm about getting Igor. I even had a pleasure of meeting this sweet puppy in person. Igor won my heart instantly. I cannot let it “end” like this if money is the only reason he doesn't get to live a long and happy life with his family.

Thank you for your time, please share far and wide!
