My name is JP and I'm a husband of 22 years, a dad of a 17-year-old senior in high school and a 10-year-old middle schooler. Ten years ago, we moved to a new town to change our stars after an oilfield lay-off. For 8 years, I worked as a training and sales manager until post-pandemic, I got laid off there too. I was fortunate enough to finish my degree online and work for another oilfield company until I got laid off last May. I am starting over once again at age 48. The good news is that I have some new work starting next week.
10 years ago, my wife and I committed to settling down here and keeping our kid in the same school district after her first 3 years being all in different schools. She graduates in May. This new work is just enough to pay the mortgage and car payments. We've burned through a large amount of our savings and hit the credit cards to get here. I wish I didn't have to ask, but we need help once again. My new role is base+commission based and I have a month of training before I can earn a bonus, and we need the commission difference to keep us in our home (and have money left for food).
My goal is to help get us at least one month of house payment to cover the gap until I can bring in that commission.
We're already tightened up as much as we can on bills, subscriptions, etc. I'm happy to say, we're surviving. We're doing our best to make it work. The kids are 100% taken care of as of now and this new role has decent insurance in case of emergencies and it starts next week when I start training.
Life has been rough these past 3 years. It has always been community that comes through when we most need it. We're going to keep surviving and we're keeping up hope that our stars change again for the better. For now, we're focused on staying in our house for 3 more months so our daughter can graduate without fear of us moving out of town where she's separated from us to be able to do so.
If you can help us, please consider doing so to help us fight once more to keep changing our stars.
Thank you.
