Help Our Family Rise from the Ashes: A Veteran’s Plea for Support
Hello, friends, family, and kind strangers, my name is Jason, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart but unwavering hope. My family—my wife, our 16-year-old child, and I—desperately need your help. A devastating fire in 2024 destroyed our home, leaving us homeless and shattering our stability. As a U.S. military veteran who proudly served from 1999 to 2002, I never imagined I’d be asking for help, but after a year of struggling to recover, we’re still fighting to get back on our feet. We need you now more than ever.
Our Story
Last year, flames tore through our lives, taking our home and most of our possessions. I served our country stateside during my time in the military from ‘99 to ‘02, and though I didn’t see combat, I gave my all. Now, I’m doing everything I can for my family. My beloved wife battles Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a disabling condition causing chronic pain and joint issues, making it impossible for her to work. Despite our losses, our 16-year-old shines bright, excelling in school, and we’re determined to give them the stability they need to keep thriving. But homelessness, lingering setbacks from the fire, and mounting costs have left us struggling to rebuild.
Our Urgent Need
We face two critical goals:
$600 Immediately: We must pay our storage unit fees by June 12th to save what little we have left—clothes, family keepsakes, and essentials—from being lost or auctioned off. Time is running out!
$2,500 Total Goal: This will help us rise again—covering a deposit, first month’s rent, and basic moving costs to secure a new home where we can heal, rebuild, and support our child’s future.
Why Your Help Matters
Every dollar brings us closer to standing tall again. Your support means we can protect our remaining belongings, move into a safe space, and give our teenager the chance to focus on school, not survival. We’re not just asking for a handout—we’re asking for a hand up, a chance to recover from the fire and build a stable, hopeful future.
How You Can Help
If you can donate—$5, $10, or whatever you’re able to give—it will light the way forward. If you can’t contribute, please share our story with your network, friends, or anyone who might care. Every share, every kind word, and every gift pulls us from the ashes toward a new beginning.
From the depths of our hearts, thank you for reading, caring, and helping us rebuild after this tragedy. Your generosity can change our lives.
With gratitude and hope,
The Harris Family
