Help the Harris Family Overcome Medical Challenges
Donation protected
Update: Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to our fund. We are so grateful to each and every one of you. Tina had her follow up surgery and is healing perfectly. There have been no further signs of infection or any other complications. Over the next several weeks Tina will have a port surgically implanted to begin multiple rounds of chemo. After that is complete she will begin 7 weeks of radiation. This will be a grueling summer and your donations will help ease the burden. These treatments should eliminate any lingering cancer cells in Tina’s body and prevent the growth of cancerous masses in other parts of her body.

Hello! We are the Harris family. The last two years have been incredibly challenging for our family. We moved from Florida to Kentucky in 2022. Shortly after the move we discovered that Derek’s kidney was failing. He received a kidney transplant at the age of 3 from his mother. That kidney lasted an amazing 40 years, but it was now starting to give out. He started on dialysis and Tina trained for two months to deliver at home Hemo dialysis. After 10 months of devoting over 30 hours a week to dialysis treatments Derek’s sister was approved to donate a kidney. January of 2024 Derek received a kidney from his sweet sister and has been focused on recovery. Unfortunately during his recovery period, Tina was diagnosed with breast cancer. In March Tina had a double mastectomy and has been focused on recovery. Shortly after the surgery we were informed the cancer was more advanced than originally thought. Tina is going to have to complete several months of chemo and radiation to ensure no cancer is left in her body. This has been incredibly challenging financially. Derek and Tina have burned through much of their savings to pay day to day living expenses and for costly anti rejection medications for Derek. Tina will need a second surgery before she starts chemo which will mean additional time off work. We would appreciate any assistance to help with medical expenses and day to day living expenses so we can focus on recovery. Our family and friends have been so supportive throughout the entire process and we are so appreciative of everyone’s thoughts and prayers. We continue to maintain a positive outlook each day and we know we will come out on the other side of this.
