update: we have paused donations at this time. Insurance has stepped up in regard to cleaning the hvac and carpets so we don't wait to raise more money than needed. Thank you friends for your generosity.
On September 8, our daughter Taegan and her husband Jeremy welcomed their sweet baby boy. Just two weeks later, tragedy struck when a fire started in their garage while they were away for their first visit with friends. Thankfully, the fire department was able to save their dog by breaking down the front door, but while the flames were contained, the smoke caused damage inside the home.
This has been especially heartbreaking because Taegan and Jeremy just bought their home in April after moving across the country from California in September 2024. They chose Tennessee for the chance to own a home and start their family — a dream that was finally coming true.
Since the fire, they’ve been displaced and unable to return. Their insurance has been slow to act, leaving them without a clear timeline. In order to bring their baby back home, they are going to pay out of pocket for urgent work—air duct cleaning, carpet replacement, and replacing their couch and mattresses—while hoping insurance reimburses them later.
They are humbled to be asking for help. They tried to rely solely on insurance, but with the unknown timeline and the need to get back into their home quickly, they now find themselves turning to their community for financial support.
As brand-new parents already adjusting to life with a newborn, this unexpected setback has been overwhelming. Any support will go directly toward helping them restore their home so they can settle in together as a family.
