A note from me, Amira, before I introduce you to my family:
This family is really struggling mentally. They have first hand witnessed the loss of their neighbours. Taqwa has lost her best friends, sisters. They were told by the occupation force to evacuate their home in Nuseirat so they evacuated to Rafah and then 3 months later they managed to travel (at an inflated rate) back to their home in Nuseirat. They home ‘luckily’ had not been hit directly but the nearby impacts have severly damaged their home that I would consider them homeless - pictures at the bottom of this page. Their home is barebones, they are struggling to secure daily food, they are constantly harassed by the psychologically damaging sound of the drone, constantly flying above their heads instilling fear in their hearts and the expectation of ‘you’re next’. They have been through a lot and they are suffering - there’s really no other way to say it. This is my Aunt’s family.
The Harb family
This beautiful family loves life and all its members have wonderful dreams and goals in this life, but the occupation had a different opinion in destroying everything that was beautiful to them. Their home was destroyed and they were left homeless. They were displaced are living through difficult days filled with fear, sadness and helplessness.
I will introduce you to the members of this family.
Uncle Khalil always strives hard at his work so that he and his family can live in stability and comfort, but his workplace was completely destroyed, and even the entire city in which he works (the city of Al-Zahra) was destroyed.
Before the war, Aunt Khetam used to memorise the Quran, devote her time to understanding religion, and embrace her family with love and peace, but when this war began, there was no time for inner peace or striving due to the preoccupation with the short daily routine of providing everything that keeps a person alive in a primitive way.
Taqwa, the eldest girl in this family, finished her Nursing Studies. She was and is still serving her people. Taqwa used to work in a commercial store in addition to volunteering in the hospital. Unfortunately, the occupation demolished the hospital and the shop where Taqwa spends her best time and achieves financial independence.
Lamia is two years younger than Taqwa. Her graduation ceremony from university was two days before the war. She finished studying Accounting, but the occupation did not give her the opportunity to take the degree she sought because it completely destroyed her University. It did not give her the opportunity to pursue the future that she was waiting for. Lamia wishes to study a Master’s degree and work in the specialty she loves.
Khaled is the child who grew up in this war. He entered his last stage of school. Khaled has high ambitions and big dreams. He was impatiently waiting for the end of school so he could go to study at University outside the country in one of the Universities of Qatar, the country he loves. The accursed occupation destroyed his school and obliterated his dreams.
Another note from me:
Thank you to those that have read this in its entirety. It’s really important to get their story out there in order to reach more people! I really hope to get my family out into Egypt but it would take so much money to get them out. The fee for 5 is approximately £25,000 and then they would need money to help them survive in Egypt until they find jobs. Every little donation helps and I would be forever grateful if you share this even if you can’t donate!
Their home now, this is where they live:
