Help the Gutierrez Family Through Kaleb's Heart Journey

Donation protected

Trinidad Kaleb Gutierrez’s family is reaching out for help during this difficult time. As some of you know, Kaleb has been in and out of clinics the last few days. At first, it was a problem with his lungs that led the provider to conduct an x-ray.

From Kaleb’s family:
For the last couple days we’ve been a little overwhelmed by what has been taking place with Kaleb. We appreciate our friends and family for being there for us. Especially during this difficult time and for supporting us in prayer.

We took him into CBHA for his lungs. He was in a respiratory distress episode on Sunday night and as soon as Monday came I took him in.

They called us back in the next day after his lung X-ray to conduct a CT scan of his heart. In the search for what was making his lungs ill, they were shocked to find he had a severely enlarged heart. He was referred to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital for an ECHO and EKG exam.

After the exams at Sacred Heart. We were referred to Seattle Children’s Cardiology. It’s heartbreaking news to hear for anyone, but we have been told he will need to undergo heart surgery. They let us know with this defect doesn’t close on its own and will not be fixed by placing a device in the heart due to the hole being too big this is our only option for Kaleb. With Kaleb’s recovery we await a lengthy process but are hopeful that God is with us.

He has a Atrial Septal Defect that he was born with. This is a large hole in his heart, alongside this, enlargement of the right side of his heart that further affects the function of his heart. He is also diagnosed with an anomalous pulmonary venous return of the right upper pulmonary vein to the superior vena cava. He has a very rare variation of ASD called Sinus Venosus.

One of the places of leakage is located in his largest artery, and it has been a miracle from God that he has protected him during this time. Kaleb will be requiring surgery in Seattle, further treatment/care, and a lot of love and support.

We would need to stay in Seattle next month for his surgery and continue to follow up with his surgeons and doctors.

Our family would appreciate your prayers and support during this time. With situations like these, financial burdens can become very challenging. If you feel led to give it would be a blessing in the face of the adversity that awaits us.

From the Gutierrez and Alvarado family:
We thank you for all your prayers. We trust in God, he’s the one in control and we know he hears our prayers. Kaleb, as of now, will be seen at Seattle Children’s Pediatric Cardiology. Pray for our doctors as well.
