On June 8th, our family lost our father, George Gutierrez, in a sudden and devastating way. We are still in shock, trying to process the loss of the man who was the pillar of our home. George was a selfless father who worked night shifts, sacrificed his own comfort, and gave everything he had to ensure we never went without. He faced lifelong medical challenges and financial stress, but never let us see his worries. His quiet strength and unwavering dedication taught us the true meaning of sacrifice and love. His coworkers remember him as someone who always smiled and treated everyone with kindness and respect. Though a dentist by profession, he spent most of his life as a CNA caring for the sick, elderly, and mentally disabled in rehabilitation centers and nursing homes, always with compassion and professionalism. He never drank or smoked, and lived his life with honesty and integrity.

We are now facing urgent and overwhelming expenses. The funeral costs must be paid before the service, and our household bills are piling up. To make matters worse, our home—the place my father took so much pride in and worked so hard to provide for us—is now at risk. Because the house was only in his name and he left no will, we are facing a lengthy and expensive legal process to keep it. My mother, who manages our finances, is not able to work during this time, and any benefits or policies from my father’s work will take time to process. We are doing everything we can to help our situation, including reducing our expenses and holding bake sales, but the reality is that we were only able to get by because we had both my mom’s and my dad’s paychecks supporting our household. He had been working double shifts for years to make ends meet. We are reaching out for help because we have nowhere else to turn.
