In Loving Memory of Delia Guardado

In the late 1970s, Delia Guardado came to the US from Mexico with three small sons and pregnant with another. The bravery and moxie she displayed coming to a new, unknown country to better the lives of herself and her children is absolutely astounding.
Delia was a wonderful mother, always making sure her sons were cared for, even if there wasn't much. Her work ethic was remarkable, and as every working parent knows, balancing raising children and working is unbelievably tough. But Delia was able to do it. Her sons were completely dedicated to their mother. Delia was also a second mom to many of her sons' friends. You always felt welcomed at the Guardado house.
Two weeks ago, Delia received a shocking diagnosis of late-stage cancer. They could keep her comfortable but there would be no life-saving treatment. This very quick departure of the Guardado matriarch has devastated her six sons and their families. They never dreamed that their lives would be irreparably damaged in only two weeks. Delia encapsulated that bravery and moxie her entire life, until the very end.
As we all know, funerals are expensive. The average cost is almost $8,000. The Guardado sons were not expecting this financial burden and two weeks definitely isn't enough time to prepare for that kind of major expense.
Let's help the Guardado family in their time of need. Let's take the financial burden off of their shoulders in this time of sorrow. There is very little we can do to take away the pain but we can take away the worry about paying for an unexpected funeral.
