Donations are needed for the beloved Groat family, longtime residents of Wagoner, Oklahoma.
David & Jackie Groat have been members of the Wagoner community for over 40 years. With the exception of a brief period spent out of state, they have spent many years raising their family in the city of Wagoner and contributing to the community they love.
David & Jackie are a loving and kind couple who are always willing to help a neighbor in need. They are both retired RNs and have dedicated their lives to caring for others, both within and outside their families. They have raised not only one family, but two over their lifetime, including four children, and have now opened their home to help raise three young children as well. They have continually played a vital role in their family, always showing nothing but love, commitment, and support to those whom they cherish.
David & Jackie are proud to say they are Christians and to share the love they have for God with others. To say they have faith in God would be a huge understatement. They have the complete understanding that through all things in this life, God is the only thing that will carry them through. Together, they have spent many years teaching their children and others about the importance of making God the centerpiece of life. David has spent countless hours teaching others through his own ministry about God and the ways to serve and trust in Him.
Until recent major health setbacks, David remained an active RN, and his career was centered on caring for his patients. In March of 2025, the family faced devastating news when David was hospitalized and then diagnosed with cancer. He spent over a month in the hospital. He then faced major surgery in April that led to a two-week stay in a skilled nursing facility for recovery and rehabilitation services. As soon as he was stable enough, Jackie brought him home to care for him herself. She has spent many days and nights providing care for the man she loves so very much. Now, David is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments, along with specialized care. These treatments and appointments are strenuous and can be daunting for those who are already struggling. Although they are necessary, they consume time, energy, and finances that would otherwise be put into the family.
Aside from David’s health, Jackie also has health complications that require specialized care and treatment. It has not been an easy feat to continue taking care of herself and attending to the needs of all the other people in her life whom she cares for, but she continues to do so out of pure love and determination.
Due to his health conditions, David was forced to retire before he was truly ready.
This early retirement, combined with their healthcare needs, has put a heavy financial burden on the entire family. As we are all too well aware, medical expenses often mount quickly, and it doesn’t take long before they are just too much to bear alone.
Our entire family adores David & Jackie, and has created this fundraiser in hopes of helping them shoulder this burden. No one should have to worry about how to keep a roof over their heads, the electricity on, the water running, or where the next meal might come from, especially when they are already struggling so hard for the strength to just make it through the next chemo treatment or the energy to make it to the next specialist appointment. The very last thing we want is for David & Jackie to feel alone in this struggle. We are striving to ensure they have access to every resource they need at this time. We stand with them in our hopes and prayers for healing and smoother roads ahead. We stand with them before you all, asking for help on their behalf.
