Hello, my name is Dawn Tooke. I am Angela Gorbet’s mother. My daughter, and her family, need help.
Say hello to Joseph Charles, born on July 19th. On July 14th, Angela started having contractions and went to the hospital for pain in her right side. On July 19th, Angela went to her OB for a scheduled visit. During the examination, it was determined there wasn’t any fluid around Joseph and she was immediately taken to the hospital for a C-section. Joseph was taken to the NICU as he needed assistance breathing, but everything with him went fine. Angela and Joseph were able to come home on July 22nd. On July 26th, Angela had to go back to her OB due to an infection at her C-section incision, which was leaking fluid. On July 28th, the fluid began leaking from her belly button, which was the site of a previous surgery. Her husband Roger immediately took Angela back to the hospital where she was rushed into surgery. During the procedure, Angela’s trauma surgeon discovered her appendix had ruptured. Following the procedure, Roger spoke with both the trauma surgeon and Angela’s OB, where he was told the infection was among the worst they have seen, and Angela was in bad condition. The infection did considerable damage to the tissue in her abdomen, so much so that Angela required an additional three surgeries in the next week to close her wound. Angela was finally able to come home on August 6th.
Roger needed to quit his job to take care of both Angela and Joseph. Angela is currently connected to a wound vacuum and two wound drains. Roger will need to stay at home with Angela and Joseph until Angela has healed enough to take care of herself and the baby. They don’t know how long it will be for Roger to return to work. Today, August 9th, Joseph is 21 days old. Angela has been in the hospital for 14 of those days.
