Hello, my name is Cleo Goodwin and I set up this go fund to help my parents help me with housing fees for the first semester of school. As most of you know I would be attending CSU LA for my junior year, as well as running on their track team. Due to the time of recruitment, and it is a year after COVID with no team to run with I am not on a scholarship. As we approach the beginning of the school year and after a long application process my housing fee was finally sent to me.
Of course, there is FASFA, but the way the school works, fasfa covers tuition and mandatory fees first THEN it covers housing and a meal plan. Weirdly, without housing being paid off first, students won't receive their fasfa funds on time which delays their first day. Everybody knows the deal with fafsa. Luckily, through fasfa my family has enough cover for tuition and mandatory fees. In return that leaves little to nothing for housing. My journey from De Anza community college to a4 year has not been smooth and I was unable to transfer last year due to expenses and COVID. I am a year behind my graduating class and my motivation to keep going to get a bachelor's degree gets smaller and smaller. Every time I get accepted somewhere I can't go because it's always too expensive and waiting another year isn't going to make schools affordable. All 4 of my brothers managed to go straight to college after high school because life, in general, was affordable back then. Here I am, literally stuck in Palo Alto again.
$5,074 would cover exactly half of the whole $10,148 that is due by August 14th. I am asking for help to cover half while my family and I come up with the other half. $5,000 in 3 weeks is by far more manageable than 10. Anything truly helps! Being able to attend CSU LA would not only bring happiness to my family and me, but it would also be great motivation for my younger sister. I just want to make everyone proud academically and athletically. thank you for all your contributions!
