Hello, my name is Jacqueline González and on the early morning of July 2nd my dad was woken up to the sound of the garage door opening and noticed that all the lights in the house were on (This was at 4 AM and was completely abnormal). He and my stepmom went to check the garage and were met by a huge flame.
As soon as the door to the garage was opened, the house filled with smoke. At some point, the power went completely out and my dad ran through the house and started banging on everyone’s bedroom doors. As soon as the bedroom doors were opened, smoke came rushing in and heat followed close behind. We had about 5 minutes to grab all of our pets (3 cats and 1 dog) and important belongings. One of our cats though, was unfortunately unaccounted for.
The firefighters came and it took them about 20 minutes to put the fire out. We waited anxiously for our third cat (a young kitten about 1 year old) as we prepared for the worst and hoped for the best. By the grace of God, he was found under one of the couches and was 100% okay. The couch protected him from falling debris and smoke.
Now, we are left with a few pairs of clothes, a few pairs of shoes, and anything that did not get damaged by the smoke/fire/water.
We are not asking for much at all because we have what we needed the most (pets and family). We just ask that you help us start over again because that’s all we can do at this point. We are all full time workers and have worked extremely hard to get to where we are. Any money that you choose to donate will not go to waste and will only be put towards the reconstruction of our house, lives and property.
God Bless you all and thank you.
