Jorge Gonzalez and his wife Karin both teach in our Kings Community. Jorge taught Spanish in the High School and also moderated student led clubs such as KOAR (Kings Organized Against Racism), the Kings Hoxworth Blood Drive and was also the the head of the Kings Diversity and Inclusion Committee for our district. Jorge and Karin have a daughter (Lucy) who is a Junior at KHS. The sudden loss felt by Jorge’s passing has left the district and families who’ve known Jorge over his 34 years of teaching devastated. We would like to help Karin and Lucy recover after this tragedy so we have started this fund to help cover the costs incurred by his hospitalization as well as funds to help Lucy with college expenses coming up. Jorge was a true light in great darkness and fought endlessly to help every single student at Kings feel valued and accepted. Jorge was deeply passionate about D/I work and I had the pleasure to work alongside him in that capacity. He never backed down when being challenged about his D/I work in the community and has spent his career making the world a better place around him. Jorge and Karin have helped so many families in our Kings community that it’s time we put our arms back around Karin and Lucy during this horrific time. Jorge would agree that THIS is Kings.
