Help the Gonzales Family rebuild our home

Hello,

My name is Alia Gonzales, I live in Norco, la with my husband and 13 year old son. We loved the house we lived in, but when hurricane Ida hit, we had three trees on top of our house and pieces of trees in our house. When we came back from the storm a few days after, we found ourselves homeless. We stayed several days right next door to my elderly neighbor. I kept calling fema for a trailer, but they wouldn't give us one. My husband works for Richard's cajun foods, so he was back at work already. Fema kept trying to send us out of town, I explained that we couldn't leave because my husband was working, still they wouldn't give us a trailer. So, my husband and I ended up purchasing a trailer, because again we were homeless. I came back to work several weeks later, I work at a local high school in Kenner, (Bonnabel High school)

After all the inspections the insurance company did on our house, they came up with the decision that our house is too damaged and that it needs to be demolished. Our insurance company paid us out for what we were insured for, which was only 140,000. It is not enough to demolish the house (which is 23,000) and rebuild a house.

I have repeatedly applied for financial assistance from fema. We have been denied several times. I kept appealing. finally I got an fema inspector to come out after two months. He came and explained to me that fema was going to deny me help, even though I really need the help. He explained to me that I need to keep appealing.

I am getting my house demolished this week because it needs to come down. But I can't build until I get some help

Sure enough, I was denied assistance. I have appealed again. But someone said I should try to reach out to the news to see if I can get this publicly known.

So that is what I am doing. If I can get any kind of help, I will take it.
