Updates from Rachel:

5/29 5 PM update: MRI showed mild/moderate damage to neck/spine and surrounding ligaments. He will most likely be fitted for a brace for it tomorrow. He will also go for a brain CT with contrast tonight to check on the clot and make sure there are no new ones. They will also be doing a full stroke work up just for precautions, including an echocardiagram tomorrow. They believe once they get his neck braced he will be able to get up and move around tomorrow. Please continue to pray.

5/29 1PM update: They just took him back for an MRI on his neck and spine. It will be 1 to 2 hours before hes back in his room. He's still sleeping a good bit but can be woken reasonably easy to answer questions. He has a small blood clot in his brain that they expect will be reabsorbed on its own.

5/29 10 AM Update: He is awake and alert, able to hold a conversation. Passed the swallow study and can begin eating and drinking. They said PT will come get him up and moving today. MRI revealed a small "spot" in the brain that we are waiting to hear more from Neuro about. Please pray it is nothing. What a miracle is is to see such drastic improvements today!

5/29 7 AM Update: they took Charlie for an MRI last night to scan his neck, spine and brain, but he's finally waking up and becoming more alert so he moved around too much for the full scan. They were able to scan his brain, still waiting for the doctor to read them though. He will go back tonight after 7 to scan neck and spine. He is talking a lot more now and staying lucid. Yesterday he struggled to remember what was going on, often thinking he was still a teenager that had been in a four-wheeler accident. I think he is getting sick of being asked his name, birthday, and what year it is by the nurses. They are doing regular bladder scans and straight caths for now, in hopes that he will be empty his bladder on his own soon. His bowel are also swollen so the are monitoring bowel and bladder for possible injury. They believe he will be in the ICU another 24-48 hours at least before being transferred to a less critical floor.
Specific prayers currently needed: a good result from brain MRI, continued alertness and consciousness so they can do a swallow study, (He has not been able to eat or drink anything.) For a successful MRI with a clear neck and spine, (He is still in a C-collar and it's driving him crazy.) And for him to be able to empty his bladder on his own.

We really appreciate everyone's prayers and checking in on us!

5/28. 3pm update: 3PM Update: Charlie was extubated a little after 10 am and he has stayed in stable condition. PTL. He has yet to fully regain consciousness though as he was given a lot of medicine yesterday to sedated him. He does occasionally wake up and will talk just a little bit and he knows who I am! (He did not know me while in the ambulance.) He has some pain in his neck and will go for a MRI this evening for that and to reevaluate his brain just for precautions. A neuro team is on standby incase the MRI shows anything that may require surgery. Right now he needs prayer for pain management, a good MRI report of neck/spine/brain, and to be able to wake up. His mouth is sore and dry from being intubated for so long but they will not allow him to drink until he is more alert.

10AM UPDATE: Charlie is not longer being sedated and working in being extubated now. Waiting to see if he needs a MRI for his neck, they believe he has an old injury but they want to be sure it was not something caused by the accident. Things are moving the right direction but he will be here at least a few more days.

UPDATE: 0600-0900 am. He was very confused and combative when arriving at the Brunswick hospital, they believe that was from a concussion. Praying with the sedation he will rest and give his brain time to heal and will wake up fine in the morning. Thank you all for the prayers and please keep them coming!

4AM UPDATE: Charlie is sedated and intubated.
We are settled in ICU in Jacksonville. He has stayed stable and there appears to be no swelling or blood clots in his brain. He has a broken orbital bone and fractured rib but everything else seems to be ok. They plan to try to ectubate him between

Robert Charles (Charlie) Golden II was in a terrible motorcycle accident this evening. Charlie was on his way home, going around a sharp curve, and lost control of his bike. He was transported to Brunswick, GA by ambulance, where he was ultimately transferred to UF Shands in Jacksonville, FL. Charlie is currently intubated, sedated, and being evaluated for all and any injuries that he has sustained from his wreck.

Charlie is the primary source of income for his family. Traveling back and forth from McIntosh, GA to Jacksonville, FL is going to cause a huge financial burden on this family. Please donate if you are able to help ease some of the stress that Rachel will be enduring. Rachel will be balancing being at her husband’s side and making decisions for him, and also being responsible for caring for their beautiful family.

Please help support Charlie, his wife Rachel Golden, and their 4 children during this time of sudden and unexpected tragedy. There are many, many uncertainties that lie ahead for the Golden family. Please pray for Charlie, Rachel, Anna, Julia, Jacob, and Courson as they begin this horrific challenge.

Please share, donate if able, and continue to lift this sweet family up in prayer.
